Four months later Internet still drops significantly

Right now it's running normally but throughout the day speeds drop from 55MB/s all the way down to 1.5mb/s or sometimes it says 55MB/s but the internet is extremely slow which causes it to be unusable.

I reset the router and only used one computer to connect to the wireless network and it still drops down to 1.5mb/s. I called Comcast and they said the signal to the modem is "weak" which is odd when 8 hours of the day it works perfectly normal. When it is running slow I plug the modem in directly to a computer and speeds are still low which the only thing I can think of is that Comcast is throttling my network. Unless the modem is failing? I may pick up a SB6141 today to try and see if that fixes the problem.

I'm using a SB6120 modem along with an Asus RT-AC66R router

Edit: Which leads me to believe that my speeds are being throttled is that I won't reset the modem or router and speeds jump back up to 55Mb/s. If I had to unplug and let the modem rest I would believe the modem is failing.

I download games off of steam along with free MMOs and I have 4 other family members streaming news along with Hulu and Netflix.

Called again they claim my speeds are not being throttled, I will purchase a new modem and try it to see if that is the issue.
