GTX 780 / HD 8970 & Haswell

Hello everyone,
I was wandering around OCN for quite some time until now, but i decided to make an account because i couldnt find anything about this question.
So this is very simple: i finaly decided to make myself a gaming build, but i wanted something that is very solid and will last me at least 2years perfectly (I do not want to struggle with anything) but of course nothing expensive.(Titan/690 etc..)i've had my eyes on an i5-3570k + Sapphire 7970 Vapor-x Ghz and i have read nothing but positive reviews about this combo, so i really made up my mind until...i read that The new generations of everything will come out soon this year..i will only make my purchase by june anyway but i have these things i need to know:
-The price tag for the new series will be similar?( aka 3570k=4570k / 7970=8970 )
-We all know that the sapphire model for the HD 7970 Ghz is superior to others, so what i want to know is, will we see some custom designs coming out early as well? ( from the reference release )
-Will the HD7000 Series still benefit from driver coverage after 8000's release?
So is it worth waiting (and probably extra cash) for the next series?
Thanks for everything )

Welcome to OCN

If you have a need now buy something now otherwise you are going to be waiting all the time for the next big thing to come along and end up never buying anything

Well LGA 1150 will be out around that time but i cant see into the future so the only thing i can say is wait and see

As for new video cards Nvidia will have a mini Titan card around summer time otherwise there is no plans for any new video cards untill at the end of the year

Great minds think alike!

Not to be a smartazz, but if you keep waiting for the next series/gen of stuff you'll be waiting forever, LOL!
Anyway, like your choices if I was an AMD fanboy. Get at least 8GB of memory.
Which mobo are you thinking about?

You can't have it both ways. Something that will max out everything within the next two years will be expensive. Heck, my setup still can't max out everything currently (not to mention we still don't know how PC components will handle ports from next generation consoles)

Don't wait, because there is a good chance you will  waiting until next year for the 780/8970. Rumors also strongly suggest that the refresh cards will only be slightly (15-20%) my powerful than current top end cards excluding the titan.

If you have to wait, wait for Haswell. It will be released by this summer. Pair it up with a 7970 and you will be set. You won't max out every game within the next two years and very few people will.
