Need help 7850 artifacting

Hi all

We have an ATI powercolor PCS+ 7850 GPU, and it has been artifacting near enough from day 1, however I wasnt aware of the artifacts until few month after purchase. The initial load temps of the card were astounding, like 80C IIRC even with fans at full speed and side window of pc case removed. I have since changed the TIM on the card and it now idles at 45C or so...not sure if this is also unusually high.

My bro plays on a game called Tera, its a MMORPG. On certain aspects of the game online the screen begins to artifact, with dost and white lines across the screen. If you stay in the same area on the game long enough the screen turns itself off and goes into power saving mode, and the only way to get out of this is to restart the pc.

Any ideas? I had no idea up until now about the screen restarting problem.

We have tried numerous CC drivers, and they all seem to cause artifacting on this game. Does it sound like faulty gpu?

Also just checked and gpu temps whilst in game get up to 85C, then the artifacts start. Is this a sign the card is too hot?
