SLI 670 =the which one question again - Page 2

That 670 if I'm correct actually cools better than the ones I have, but I can't say for sure if its reference 680 PCB,hopefully someone else can help you out on that. Mine are the galaxy GC.

I will be upgrading my single (Golden) 570 for 2X670's and i want to water cool both so what's on top when it comes to SLI GTX 670
i'm running single 1920x1080 144hz monitor but may end up with triple set up down the road
Thank you

If you are going to be purchasing 2 670s at the same time, and if you will opt for 4GB versions, they will cost you around $850. Plus you will purchase additional waterblocks

YOu might opt for a 6GB Titan for $1000

My Asus GTX TItan is OCed under air and gives me the same performance of a 670 SLI.

I would really think about this alternative as well.

Besides you will have great headroom for improvement since youwill have a single core GPU.

Titan 6gb SLI would be amazing for your surround setup you are thinking of as well later down the road.

I would go with what iARDAs said,I didn't purchase my 2 670's at the same time, they were months apart, and if I had to do it all over again, while have the cash to buy both at the same time,I would put the extra and get a titan.

@iARDAs , i was going to get one card first and wait for the next GTX,this way i could get the second one little cheaper but i know it won't be much and yes your option make some sense but if i was going to get Titan you know waterblock would be coming also

Ah I see the route you want to follow

1 670 now and 2nd one later when it is cheaper.

However note that I doubt 670s will get cheaper soon. You will have to wait for the 7xx series and that might even be in 2014.

Still though a 670 SLI setup will be a great setup too.

Look for deals in the holidays.

DId you decide on 2 or 4gb versions at least?

For single monitor 2 GB is enough

For 1080p surround people also say that 2GB is enough however we can not be sure what the future games might bring out.

THe new console ports at the end of the year might benefit from more Vram. But this is just a guessing game.

However a single 670 does not have enough beef to take full advantage of the 4GB of vram. Chances are that if a game requires a lot of Vram, over 2 lets say, a single 670 will probably not handle it very well for lacking the raw power.

And a 670 2GB SLI might also bring issues in the future. You might have enough power and speed but "might" hit the Vram wall evantually, especially if you want to go with surround.

Just think carefully and plan your road ahead carefully.

You might end up loosing more in the future by thinking of saving a bit now. I know I did.

EVGA 670 FTW

Why?
  • It's EVGA
  • It's their best model
  • It's a blower, great for SLI
  • Numerous first hand accounts here with great experiences and OC'ing capability

and 2 gigs is enough. This graph is really aimed to show the scaling, but I'm also showing that it's plenty capable of handling HIGH resolutions with even 4xMSAA

I can vouch that two, 2GB 670 FTW's, are plenty for single monitor 1440p. I have had zero problems with mine. No memory issues even running modded Skyrim. Beast overclockers as well, both are stable at 1300mhz on air. With a good fan profile both cards run in the mid 60's temp wise.
