Asus G750 w/ Haswell and GTX 700M Series? - Page 2

The G750 uses a soldered CPU! You can't upgrade it down the road to an extreme CPU when they get cheaper. Stupid move, Asus. Your laptop is already one of the heaviest, largest single GPU laptops out there, yet your competitors can make a lighter weight laptop with the same specs with an upgradeable socketed CPU!
It's worse yet that you haven't addressed why you went with the soldered 4700HQ processor versus the 4700MQ.

So go with the Gt60/gt70 -2oc or 2-od models, or Alienware, Clevo, something besides the Asus G750

The cooling is laughably worse on the MSI GT series. I wouldn't touch those with a ten foot stick. tongue.gif

Quit complaining already. Besides, if you're gonna go for a 17" laptop, why would you bring weight into the mix of things? At least talk about pricing if you're gonna talk about anything... and even then the prices are WORSE for the GT60/70 machines. tongue.gif

Where did you hear that? Everything I've heard about the GT60-2OD (15.6", 780m) and GT70-2OD (17.3", 780m) laptops is that the single 12 volt fan can move ALOT of air in Cooler Boost mode (fan at full speed). With the 780m and 4700MQ at full utilization, temps stay in the low 80s Celsius at worse, usually high 70s. The only problems I've seen are poor thermal paste jobs.
Price? The Asus G750 with the 780m and 4700QM I've heard will cost about $2400 but might not be available yet. The MSI GT70-2od is $2,000 on Newegg right now so we'll see I guess

Yes and the temps for the Asus machine are also in the high 60s/low 70s range according to the European users. That and it's dead silent, as opposed to the horrendously loud GT series.

The Asus has better cooling by far. It's on par with Alienware, if not better.
