RAM compatibility on Gigabyte B75M-D3H

Thread Starter
Hello, I bought 3 sticks of G.Skill RipjawsX 2GB @ 1333MHz because I was getting these at a very cheap price from some local retail store. When I install the 3 sticks altogether in my B75M-D3H, the system doesn't start but when I install only 2 sticks, the system starts normally. Can't I install all the 3 sticks together, is there any way to get all the 3 sticks working?

I think you might have to add a forth stick. I'm not really sure but I believe you can't run odd numbered sticks in dual channel RAM slots... Either run 1, 2 or 4. The first channel sees 4GB, but the second channel only sees 2GB. Since it works with only 2 sticks I assume thats the problem. Haven't tried running 3 sticks myself though. I could be wrong

Oh, is there any way from which I can run all the 3 sticks together? I wanted to know one more thing, will this board be able to run 2 sticks of RAM from which one is 4GB and the other is 2GB in Dual-Channel?

Yes, you probably could run a 4GB stick with a 2GB stick. I don't see why you couldn't; I have done it before in my system, but I never used it for too long, so the stability is questionable.

From what I've read it SHOULD be possible to run all three sticks, the first two running dual channel and the third then running single channel. There might be a setting in your BIOS thats trying to force dual channel on all 4 slots, so maybe have a look there. I'm not too familiar with the Gigabyte bios

Nope, I don't see anything in the bios which is limiting the RAM compatibility. I don't know what's wrong, this is a strange problem. The desktop starts restarting after every 5 seconds when I install all the three sticks, but it's running with the 2, strange :s. Any help would be appreciated, if I could run all the sticks frown.gif.
