I have been looking for information online as to the configuration of fans I should have rather than just guess, I have decided to ask the experts, you guys!

This is my current fan configuration with a very rough mock up of my case and components

Currently I do not have a GPU in however I should have one relatively soon.

Now, my question is about that fan at the top, where should go? Should I leave it where it is, should I move it back and use it as a vent or should I place it on the front or side? Thanks guys! Extra kudos if you tell me the reasons.

If you need more information just ask!

You might want that top fan to blow air out of your case. It's debatable, but negative static pressure caused by having more intake than outtake can increase the amount of dust that you will see in your case.

I thought having more intake is positive air pressure and having more outtake gives you a negative air pressure?

top? exhaust

Top as exhaust if at all. Try removing it and see if temps change, it's likely that they won't shift too much,

Ok, would that be the best place for it or would it be better to be placed on the side drawing air in near the GPU? I'll change it round to an exhaust when I next have chance if not. Wouldn't it be best to have a positive air pressure?

I have gone OTT with fans on my system and my temps idle @ 20*c and max cpu @45c gpu 65c. even with an overclock they don't change much apart from I have to up fans speed on gpu.

mines similar to yours but 4 front intake (2 x 120mm 2 x 80mm) two exhaust 120mm in upper right corner and works brilliantly. and psu blowing on gpu.

I got to add latest pics but hoping to get corsairs sp120mm all round.

I think it's unneccessary and might be detrimental Try to unplug it before doing anything.

Do you think I should use the top fan to blow on or near the area of the GPU instead of where it is? I could always mount it on the side, I would still have a positive air pressure and I read that it can help with CPU coolers that blow down such as mine.

best way to solve this is by posting some pics of your current setup so we can see. what cpu cooler have you got?

a lot things you have to factor in, such as:

gpu heat outlet and direction
cpu heat outlet and direction
obstructions of airflow
airflow direction
etc etc etc

as you can see on mine I have a bottom fan facing the gpu to supply it with cool air, the cpu has its own intake fan.
and all the hot air rises where I got a powerful exhaust. only have one issue and that's where the gpu vrm heat comes infront of the cpu but it doesn't make any difference really.
