I've heard of Dragon Age, I'll check it out!

Haha yea lucky you, I heard koreans dying over wow expansion launches. Just shuffle your legs while playing and you'll be fine.

You should check it out. But only the first dragon age, the sequel lost the depth of it's combat system. I am interested in the mass efect games btw, how's the combat? I love them good rpg's. Got mass effect 3 for free with ps plus subscription so that got me interested. Didn't play it yet, guess it would be blasphemy to not play them from 1 to 3 ?

Have you done any of the Fallouts? 1 and 2 are really fun if you don't mind 2D graphics...but the two new ones are pretty good. If you don't mind branching out from Sci-fi...The Witcher 1 and 2 are quite good.

Then again, Mass Effect 1 looked pretty bad before I got into it, so...
I haven't played Dead Space 3 yet...I am not sure if I ever will since it has the ability to spend money to beef up your current game, but your spent cash does nothing for the next play though. I don't really want to support that idea. I mean, I can ignore it and not use it of course, but if it is supported than one day developers might start assuming people will do it and design games so that if you don't drop some money on your play through you will have a very hard time. Right now I am assuming if you drop some cash to upgrade your equipment the game will be easy mode. It could end up being required for Normal mode. I mean I have no reason to think that...but it just a gray area that I don't believe gaming should go into.

However, I think Dead Space 1 and 2 are quite good...nothing too spectacular. Definitely worth the $20 I paid for them though.

Mass Effect 1 is tied with Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Red Dead Redemption for my favourite games of all time. People complain about the combat mechanics, and it can be a bit cumbersome at times (sway when you're sniping, for example) but I found that added to the realism. The story is second to none, as is the character development, the music... If I could invent a time machine, I'd probably play through ME1 100 times. tongue.gif

I'd definitely play through 1 and 2 before playing 3. 1 is the best (IMO) by a long shot, and to be honest the character development from 1 kept the ship afloat during 2 and 3. Each iteration feels less and less like an RPG (the third one couldn't realistically be called a role playing game, it's simply a third person shooter). But if you don't have that character development, I can't see it being that enjoyable. Also, if you play them, take the time to read the codexes.

My advice would be to play through ME1, take your time (seriously, explore everything) and then go for the other two.

That first one is a masterpiece.

I tried the Witcher 2, but after half an hour of cut scenes and the mechanics seemingly requiring a PhD to master, I just gave up. Really, as I look back over my posts in this thread, my impatience has been the common theme tongue.gif From a lore perspective, is starting The Witcher 2 without playing the first one advisable? The story didn't make much sense when I watched the cut scenes.

OP, have you played Star Wars: Knights of The Old Republic 1&2?
You would probably really enjoy them if you're a big fan of Mass Effect. They're very similar to Mass Effect except for the combat (and obviously it's Star Wars biggrin.gif). The first one is made by Bioware and the second by Obsidian.

Hmm well...I don't know how much of the story really matches up with 1 and 2, but I think the first one had more back ground information in the beginning. Been a while since I played either of them.

I tried deus ex revolution the other day on my mac but they didn't play along very well. The first scene did interest me a lot though, I'm very interested in bio-engineering and genetic modification. I will play it when I get my first rig together, should be tomorrow or the day after. Definately will check out mass effect 1 too. Thanks for the tip. And i have played rdr too but I got lost in the freeroaming and did never finish it tongue.gif So have you decided what to play next yet?

I was just recently in a similar boat, except I'm normally an online fps typpe gamer.

I just decided.
That all the hype regarding BioShock Infinite meant that itd at least be fun, figuring it was just over hyped by reviewers etc. saying its best game of the year and stuff.

Turns out they were spot on and its absolutely fantastic, the world is awesome and even though its not a true sandbox style, you are so into gameplay that you don't even consider it. The mechanics are well polished I feel, and everything seems to be thoroughly thought out.

Give it a go.

Just thought I'd add that I started it yesterday around noon and couldn't put it down after i started.
I also decided before that, same day, to give dead space 3 a try and found myself rolling my eyes at it and finally just quitting. Probably won't go back to it.

Witcher 2 is definitely worth it! The combat system does have a bit of a learning curve but feels very rewarding when you get the hang of it. I suggest giving it a few more hours. I also never played the witcher 1 and never really felt like I was missing out.

Dead Island Riptide if you like L4D2 or Zombie games

Dead Space is fun, but I enjoy it more in CO-OP mode.
