HELP Klipsch 2.1 to 4.1 ch speaker?

Hi, my brother has the klipsch 2.1 computer set up. he hooked two extra speakers he had into the back of the sub, which has speaker inputs (from straight speaker wire) is there any way to get the computer to recognize this as 4.1 channel rather than just having two extra left and right speakers? He want's surround sound it doesn't recognize it in the mobo sound manager, he has an asus a8n-sli, comes with some sort of realtek manager.

any comments, suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Probably not possible, but...

I don't think it's possible as I bet his speakers only have a single mini plug input... left and right.
