Lots of support for this guy's first rig. I second the comments on here about getting a second-hand GPU to keep your cost down. I just sold my GTX460 for $70 on CL and got a GTX560TI for $100. I'm never paying MSRP for video cards again!!

I'm also a casual PC gamer, but just got the GTX560TI to run games smoothly on a 30" screen (2560x1600). For your case, an NVIDIA GTX460/465/650 ($50-$70USD) should all do the job. On the ATI side, you can get some mid-range Radeon HD5xxx/6xxx line cards for the same price. The advantage of the ATI line is 3-monitor support w/o SLI.

Post with GTX460OC & GTX560TI comparisons

Video Card Benchmarks (mostly accurate)

Good luck!

Has anybody recommended a 5770 yet? Even though its the same card as the 6770 it is technically a model year older than the 6770 and you may be able to find it cheaper. If you're really willing to save go onto Craigslist and search for used gaming PCs because If your processor is really an old 775 celeron that may be another problem within itself. A buddy of mine bought a used custom PC off of Craigslist for a good price. The previous owner clearly had no idea what he was doing because there was no attempt at cable management (it was in an old Antec 300 so I'll be nice) and had hardly been cleaned.

Wait to get something good rather than buy something now just to have it and regret that decision in the future.

Don't be fooled by fancy words. Some companies make out gpu's to be something they are not. Listen to what people here are saying, its usually from experience.

If you're on a tight budget, buy second hand, thats what I did.

We're not just being a bunch of elitists either. There's a sweet spot for the price to performance ratio that determines whether a card is a good value buy or not, which can be hard to pick out without experience because it has a lot to do with how well current games are optimized and how well the cards are supported. Along with future-proofing, sales, etc... A 630 falls short in every respect.

I have a lot of friends who have asked me to help them build a computer. Every time they do I tell them they better have at least $800-1000 to spend on it because I'm not going to waste their money on something they won't be satisfied with a year from now. I always get a funny look, because none of them understand this concept of getting your money's worth when it comes to PC's. Many other things, yes, but not PC's.
