Thread Starter
In the process of building a pc for a friend, I received a brand new i5 2500K for part settlement of a debt. Before that my plan was to upgrade my G860 rig for haswell or later when DDR4 became mainstream. So my options are either to sell the chip or keep it and get a decent overclocking mobo for it and use the G860 as part of an HTPC build. The option of keeping it seems to be more cost effective, since I estimate I can sell it for 190-200, while the haswell equivalent would cost me 240-270 if I were to purchase it in 2013. Mobo cost might increase the cost even more. Kifi and Kifi 2 are located in different cities and used about 4 vs 3 days respectively in a typical week. I am leaning towards sitting on the 2500K while keeping an eye for a nice deal on a matching mobo. I am looking forward to hearing your thoughts on this. Thank you in advance.

I'd say sit on that 2500k.
Haswell is yet to release, and so far there is no real indication if its gonna overclock as well as sandybridge (or at least better than ivy). Its still gonna be a year or two before DDR4 even gets to consumer level. From what I understand its only gonna filter down with Skylake. Haswell server chips will have DDR4, all the rest still DDR3.

And the inflated prices at launch wth.gif rather wait it out
