Looking for the best pair of headphones I can get for around $300 or so.

1. State your budget! (Set an absolute maximum or give a relative maximum with + x amount if it will be amazingly better).

I'd prefer to get something that's $300 under, I'll happily go for something that costs more only if it's really worth it.

2. State your music tastes

Rock, Metal, Punk, Electronic Dance Music, Dubstep, Rap and occasionally Hip-Hop

3, State what perks are highly desirable (low impedance, heavy bass, excellent for gaming etc..)

I'll probably be using this to play Battlefield 3 and such but I value my music listening experience more, so please don't write off an absolutely awesome pair of cans just because they aren't super good for gaming.

4. State what products you already have and are planning on using with your recommended item (state whether you have an amp if you're looking for headphones with high impedance for example)

I'll be using this with a Gigabyte Z77X-UD3H when I get my new build, is it worth investing in an amp or sound card? I wouldn't mind getting a decent soundcard that'll do the job for around $60.

I have no idea what 'headphones with high impedance' means. redface.gif

5. State how you are going to use the item (e.g. out-and-about, at the gym, at home, PC / console, gaming, music etc). The more detail in this, the better.

I'll probably be just using it at home, I have a cheap set of earbuds I can use for the gym anyways. I'll be using this along with a clip on mic for gaming.

6. State where you live and offer some sites that are known for having good prices / being reputable so we can help recommend you products in your country's currency (like Amazon or ebay).

I live in the Philippines so I don't really have a good selection available to me but I could always order from somewhere. thumb.gif

Some sites where I can shop from:

http://www.tipidpc.com/useritems.php?username=X_Eggy

If you can't see the pair of headphones you have in mind there, just tell me and I'll try to find them somehow. smile.gif

Thanks in advance! smile.gif

Is the $300 US or PHP?

/edit It has to be $300 US right? I just saw on that site you linked a 3" cable for 300 PHP.

Impedance is the amount of ohms. The more ohms, the more power is required to push them. You would upgrade to a soundcard with a headphone amp or a dedicated amp to push better headphones. Assuming your pricing above is $300US, you will most likely need something extra to push them. At the minimum a Xonar DG soundcard (around $25). Once you clarify the budget, it will be easier to recommend.

Of course it's $300! That's roughly around PHP12,000 haha.

As I said before it doesen't have to be from the link above, so suggest away.

It'd be nice if you could suggest some headphones from the link that would be great for what I want to do. thumb.gif

Leave the soundcard/amp out of the budget, I'll just buy it when I decide what pair of headphones I wanna get. thumb.gif

Try looking for the ATH-AD900x.

I don't see it on your website, but I am sure it is floating around in the philipines somewhere.

Thanks, I'm not really sure I prefer open headphones or not, I don't really want people to hear what I'm listening to. These won't be good for noise cancelling since they're open right?

I'm just going to go ahead and make sure you don't want Beats; they are $50 headphones in a $300 price-bracket.

If you could find a pair of Sennheiser HD 650s used for $300, they are fantastic. Right now, there is a pair of Sennheiser HD 600s on sale (used, but in good condition) on amazon for $299.99; that would be a great choice. I can't actually like the product, but if you look in the "More buying options" section here, you will see it.I generally only use Sennheiser cans, but V Moda makes some great stuff, as well. Cheaper than a used pair of HD 650s, you could get some V Moda M80 on-ears; they also make an over-ear.

Buy the sennheiser 600's. They are 400 and you can get 100 off with the code from the front page.
