Micro ATX computer for the parents.

Thread Starter
Hey guys,

My father was looking at a all in one computer for the office for things such as e-mails, internet browsing, skype, documents and possibly other applications but it was a lot of money.

I know for a fact I could get him parts to build for him for a small computer that will hide in the corner of the desk behind a monitor. Now I don't have a huge amount of experience or don't know what I'll need. Possibly the quieter the better as well.

I'd say Windows 7 would be best for this build. Could I get a pre-built computer or would it be better to build it myself?

Builds and links below would be very helpful.

Thanks.
BMorrisSly

Yeah I'll have a look around, just don't know what would be good. Along with cooling and what not.

I mean he can look at options like tablet/pcs such as Microsoft Surface Pro or equivalent.

For that exact task your father wants to do, I will be picking up one.

They are PCs that can do anything that a PC can do but a tablet.

Surface Pro is around $1000 in USA.

There are similar Asus products too as far as I know

Just to be clear I am not talking about Ipad, Samsung Note 10.1 kind of tablets.

If he wants a PC than,

You can grab him a 2500 CPU (Not even the K version), You can even grab something lower too. A very basic motherboard since you wont be doing any OCing or such. The CPU stock fan will be more than enough.

you can use it for videos too so no need to buy a GPU

ram is cheap, you can grab 4 or 8.

There are so many budget Cases that will be just for him.

But definitaly grab him an SSD of at least 60GB and a HDD. Make sure he knows that when he wants to install something, he doesnt do it on the SSD though since he might run out of space soon redface.gif

Yeah like I said that would be an all in one imo. They're looking to save money so I said why don't you get a Micro ATX/ITX and just hide it behind a monitor would be a lot cheaper than a all in one.
