Why do people insist on buying Zalmans? - Page 2

The better your airflow, the better your cooling will be. Some coolers are more self sufficient than others.

If you take good care installing it, and setting up your case airflow, you'll have good results.

Other coolers might be a bit better, and definately beat the Zalman in less friendly environments (read: bad airflow).
I don't know just the whole thing with zalman doesn't seem like a very efficient cooler. small fan, small surface area compared to other coolers, and so forth. granted I could be wrong though and either way it is better then what I have though

still though wouldn't other coolers respond just as good though with improved case airflow just as well as the zalman would?

The zalman also has a mirror finish on the bottom of it so lapping time cuts down alot. I wouldnt trade my fv9 79050 coolers for the world. For the first time in my life I dont worry about heat I worry about how far the card can push without heat being a factor.

Nobody insists on buying them, especially not in this forum. The only thing I would buy a 9500/9700 is for a HTPC or something that I needed to be quiet but still needed a fan for.

As it was posted before, TT Big Typhoon & Tuniq 120 Tower's are suggested because they're the best, about a year ago XP-120 & XP-90C were the thing's to buy until they got outperformed by the Big Typhoon.

If anything I would advise against the CNPS9500 & CNPS9700 because having to have a good airflow specifically for the cpu heatsink is imo pointless. I wouldn't buy a heatsink only to have to ADD something to it to cool the way it should right out of the box, the only addon I would buy for a heatsink is something like a mounting bracket or something like that but performance enhancements are kind of contradictory if you ask me.

Zalman makes great CPU/GPU coolers... only companies like Thermaltake and others make better ones like the BT and the Tuniq.. Iv seen the new CNPS9700 cool better then the BT by like 4-6C at load in a review, but if you lap the BT, put on some RAMsinks on the base and get a higher CFM fan it will perform better.

My tuniq tower dropped my idle temps 15C from my 9500. Zalman makes nice gpu coolers on the other hand though.
