GPU Load Spikes

Hi everyone,

My GPU has "coil squeal" - but not the average type. I've linked a screenshot from afterburner. What you see on the load graph is idle, just watching afterburner it was spiking every 10-15 seconds and while it spikes, it squeals.

The weird thing is, when I am gaming there is usually not coil squeal.

I've had suggestions to update bios on the card, has anyone ever seen this before? Anyone know of a fix?

There's a tool called GPU Shark that can show which processes are using the GPU. It is highly possible there's some app in the background doing this. I had similar problem with Windows live messenger a year ago. Random load spikes at certain interval, just like the ones you are having. Easiest way to determine if some process is doing this is by killing all the processes that use GPU one by one and see when that stops.

My apologies I can't edit my last reply, Afterburner is still showing my spike and I can hear it spiking also, but GPU Shark shows no change in GPU usage.
