Gigabyte HD7950 Rev 2.0 /// Full Cover Compatibility

Good Morning Everyone,

Long time reader, builder, and soon to be full time contributor to the forum and community. Glad to be here.

To preface,

I have been building this rig for the better part of four months and on three different occasions, I have added a total of three GV-R795WF3-3GD cards to my build out. As luck would have it, coupled with a lack of adequate foresight, I have the acquired the following.
[GV-R795WF3-3GD reference]
[GV-R795WF3-3GD rev 1.0]
[GV-R795WF3-3GD rev 2.0]

I also have 3x Komodo HD7950 full cover waterblocks. Sounds pretty awesome right? Well you're about 2/3 right. The reference PCB and the Rev 1.0 PCB fit the Komodo coolers perfectly however the rev 2.0 PCB I understand is more similarly designed to match the 7970 reference PCB.

My question currently is, has anyone successfully implemented a Komodo 7970 Full Cover block onto a Gigabyte 7950 Rev 2.0 PCB? Logically it makes sense, but I noticed a few subtle differences in capacitor and VRM placements between the two boards.

I have sent an e-mail the folks @ Swiftech and requested a scan of the machined 7970 block so I can make a 1:1 comparison however I'm not sure that it will be enough to make a decision. They should have more in stock next week so I'm playing the waiting game. Which I am fine with, this is not a lifestyle that is meant to be rushed.

Secondly, Does anyone know of a full cover block that is compatible with the Gigabyte HD7950 rev. 2.0 board? I have done a good bit of research but I feel like my resources and knowledge are not as strong as those of some of OC.Nets members.

I thank you kindly for your time and for reading my plight,

DesolationAngel

Friendly morning bump. Been considering hawking this Rev 2.0 card on Craigslist or Ebay and searching for a decent rev 1 card....Not ideal, but at least it would work out.

Literally just made an account to answer this. 2cents.gif
I've been looking for the same, no avial.
Saw someone Re-machined a Heat-killer for a HD7970 Rev 1.0, but nothing prefabbed and sold as it. mad.gif
Machining a block is just too much to deal with for me, and for me I've got a pair of Rev 2.0, oh well, Guess no watercooling for me.
Tho I did Carbon Fiber Wrap the guards for them, hell if I couldn't make them watercooled, doesn't mean I can't make them "Cooler" looking ha thumb.gif
