Anyway here is where I found the fix in case anyone else runs into the same problem. You just download 2 font files for the game and copy them over to the proper place. http://icenhancer.proboards.com/thread/22
Also does anyone know which specific files are related to the enb that is used in this mod. Like if I wanted to install everything but the enb, what files would I need to leave out when I copy everything over. I like all the cars and mods done to them, I'm just new to playing gta with mods and would like to be able to try out other enbs like I used to with skyrim. I dont want stuff messing up by just copying the new enb files over what is already there. Then if I want to come back to this enb I know which exact files I need to copy over. I know everything that starts with enb obviously but other ones I've downloaded have things in the pc and common folders and thats what I'm not sure about.
ok sorry I didn't understand, otherwise would have suggested the font file fix. it's hung up more than one person. and sorry, no idea which files are enb only. here's what I do though, as I too have played around with 20-30 enbs over the years, and wanted the flexibility to easily install one to check it out. once you have you've patched to 1040 and followed one of the guides to a tee, and have ensured that it works (without it launching social club), copy over these key files https://www.dropbox.com/sh/roi0ur1vkbq48qn/8Hg2S4uIbl
to the main gta 4 directory
after you copy these files over (and click yes to overwrite the two font files), make a copy of the entire game, and label it "ready for modding" or whatever you want. this way you will have a version of gta 4 with all essential files to make all different types of mods work at your finger tips. when you want to try a enb, just make a copy of this "ready for modding" version (takes only a minute or two on my computer) make a shortcut of the launchgtaiv.exe, and add -nomemrestrict -norestrictions into the shortcut (google if you don't know what I'm referring to).
