Water cooling setup for 6 HD 7950s and 1 motherboard

Thread Starter
Hello all! So I am new to water cooling and what better way to pop my cherry than figuring out a water cooling system for 6 gpus! Or most likely 3 systems each covering two gpus. To answer the question how am I going to get 6 GPUs on 1 MB I will be using risers of 1x - 16x and 16x - 16x variety. The system will NOT be used for gaming.

I ordered 6 Sapphire HD 7950 21196-00-20GHD which is a 7950 on a 7970 reference board. So I can use any 7970 reference block.

I imagine I would need 3 radiators, 3 water pumps, 6 gpu blocks, and all the misc. parts like tubing, fluid, fittings, etc.

If possible I need the budget to be under $1k the lower the better, but I do not want to sacrifice cooling ability. These cards will be run 24/7 at 100% utilization, undervolted, underclocked core, overclocked memory. So the GPU blocks need to be able to cool everything, gpu, vram, etc

This GPU Block was highly recommended at this thread.

Thoughts? Discussion? Thank you!

wait... you plan on fitting 6 7950s on one mobo? is that even a thing? if it is, im interested to see how youll physically manage that! what will you use it for?

You need a 360 rad for 2 gpus. I use a alphacool nova 1080 for 5 7970's

give at least 120mm of rad for each Chip you're cooling so for 6 GPU's you'll need at least 720mm of rad and a few extra to be on the safe side so I would go for 3 360mm rads as sugarhell suggested

Are you going to be making one massive massive loop or 3 seperate loops?

haha you really are crazy Miata wink.gif

Not sure what you're planning on doing but wouldn't an x1 slot bottleneck a 7950?
