How do you "plug it" to your video card, does it go in a PCI slot or somewhere else? That's weird lol.

Prior to launching the game check your Task Manager and make certain that there are no Proccesses running the are supposed to be stopped.

Since I installed a 8800GTX I have had some issues. I have tried 2 different drivers (I think that's all that there are) and nTune. In the end there are 2 games that linger after closing them: FEAR EP and CIV4. I discovered this when I would run 3DMark06 and the opening FPS's were down 60%. At first it seemed random, then I did some deducing. Eventually it came down to those two proccesses (Launcher.exe and the CIV4 launcher). Now that I am aware of those culprits I have no glitches.

Perhaps something similar is happening to you, though a different proccess or processes?

...just guessin'... but sounds awefully familiar.

P.S. I believe that the newest drivers are 97.44

Problem solved. I had two firewalls running (Norton and Windows) and the computer didn't understand. I disabled the Windows firewall and did a disk cleanup and defrag...PROBLEM SOLVED
