Am I going to bottleneck my 670 SLI setup with this board?

Thread Starter
I have a Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3 (x16 and x8) PCIe slots.
Am planning to get another 670 for SLI and was wondering if I better get myself a good z77 mobo.

Thanks smile.gif

I think your 2600K is fine to handle 670 SLI.

@Swolern, Thanks for the link, it was good read and benchmarks but it has nothing to do with my thread here tongue.gif
Thanks guys smile.gif
I know that my 2600k is fine but my question was if my current motherboard is good enough for 670 SLI.

Z68 I think it's still good...at least to handle your 670 SLI.

to add to that 8x PCIs does not make much of a difference to x16 PCIe it's only about a 3-4% drop in performance

Don't forget PCI-E 2.0 X8 is quarter speed compared to 3.0 x16. He'll probably lose more that 3-4% than the max potential.

um you have the wrong idea of your motherbaord your motherboard supports up to 16x on your top slot but if you install a second card your pcie badwidth for both of your cards will be at 8x pcie

so both cards will operate at 8x speeds.
