Well I had a pair of 4890 before so I do know what the top of the line DX10 hardware can do but even thous types of crossfire/SLI are starting to run out of juice to run the latest AAA games. Sure they can still run something like Crysis 2 at an semi acceptable speed/detail but lets face it crossfire 4870/90 and SLI 275/285 are dying bread and fleetingly small part of the modern day hardware lineup.

Some graphically heavy games are already hovering in the radeon 5850 area in order to run properly. BF3 really scales down exceptionally well and can even be run on a 8800 GTX (not to mention its 2 years old already).

"Some graphically heavy games are already hovering in the radeon 5850 area in order to run properly."
Agree, Bad Company 2 doesn't even run right on a 6770.

DX11 support for games is often pure marketing! It will give u the feeling your game looks 'beautiful' which is TOTALLY the opposite actually. Take GhostRecon FS for example, it has DX11 but has very cheap textures, no AA which makes DX11 look like a waste.

I completely disagree. BC2 ran great on my 5770 @ 1080p

Fine by me.

Make the games DirectX 10+, Windows Vista/7 or higher, 64-bit OS ONLY, 8GB of memory minimum (and make use of 16GB if available), a minimum of a GTX 5xx card or higher with 1.5GB of video memory, and a minimum of 4 cores (and will take full advantage of 6 cores and/or 4 cores+4 hyperthreads), and I'll be happy.

That will still allow my wife's 3 year old system to play it.

And tessellate. I am tired of low poly meshes and especially people with angular heads. DS3 is pretty bad about this.

I agree, Support is different from developed with DX11 only. BF3 and Crysis 3 are examples of what should be the minimum quality as we move forward in the next few years.

Crysis 3 and BF3 seem to be the only games that make proper use of DX11

I'm liking this part:
Quote:
This is a pretty startling how fast this has changed. In the 2008 customer report, 58% said in a box, 42% digitally. This
year it was about 18% in a box, 82% digitally. That’s a massive change in just 4 years
Quote:
This is no surprise really. Even in 2009, 3 out of 5 of our customers preferred digital. But now, it’s 4 out of 5 in only 4 years
and if anything, the trend seems to be accelerating. Less than 1 out of 5 people want to buy their software in a box.
Steam alone accounts for 90% of our non-direct game revenue.
