Can I replace an i5-2500k with an i7-3770 no OS re-install?

Nothing to do with licensing. Same MOBO, Will my mobo, and W7 64bit OS chip set drivers recognize the change and work?

I have some licensed software on the W7 install and don't want to have to deactivate and re-activate everything.

I am getting into handbrake and want to use 4c4t.

Thanks

Most likely. I went from an i3 to an i7 (switching between three different motherboards) and haven't reinstalled once. smile.gif

yes, as long as your mobo is either z77 or p68,z68. etc with an updated bios. Make sure to update bios before doing it if you have an older mobo

It is an H77 MOBO... Probably will try anyways.

Yeah, the H77 (like all other 7-series motherboards [B75, Z75, and Z77]) came with out-of-box support for the Ivy Bridge i7-3770 to begin with. You shouldn't need to update your BIOS to change CPUs in this case.
