1440p.. / 120hz.. Still can't decide (HELP!) - Page 2

The 24awg DVI cables work well to output 120hz on my 1440p from overloard computers.

If you're not convinced that 120hz at 1440p is possible just read the forums on that link.
Im not an expert on the subject but many of the overlord monitor owners have posted on these forums and proved 1440p@120hz using different methods that is is the real deal.

1440P hands down. Will win, with the correct DVI D cable you can get 120hz on a DVI-D cable.

Just make sure the cable you get can do that. thumb.gif

This is really a personal choice for you.

I wouldn't get a screen larger than 24" because I play FPS a lot, even if I play other games. A larger screen might be too hard to concentrate on everything. Although because the screen resolution is larger you can see more and see enemies faster without having to be looking in the right direction. And you could only look at the center of the screen (1920x1080 amount of pixels) so that the rest of the screen would be like peripheral vision. I don't know I would have to try one myself I guess.

I haven't used 120 HZ before so I don't know how useful it would be for tracking on a screen. Motion blur would only occur while you're turning, not while aiming.

1440p will benefit you 100% of the time. 120hz only benefits you during games. 1440p can be overclocked to 90hz giving you a near 120hz experience. 120hz monitor can't be "OC'd" to 1440p. (obviously)

For the full experience, 1440p is the way to.

Good point! However, i need to be sure if this overclocking is possible and won't harm my monitor in any way. I'm a complete newbie to overclocking monitors.

Seems 1440p is the winner here, never tought people loved it this much!
But will my system be able to run it? 3570k @4.2 - hd7950 @ 1025/1780
I'm talking battlefield 3 60fps

For all 1440P questions, visit the 1440P gaming thread (Link in my sig) and you can see what is popular and get questions like what to expect with a 7950. If you take some AA down you should be good. And the best part of 1440P you dont need much AA as the extra pixels that you get compensate for that a lot.

Be prepared to be blown away by 1440P. thumb.gif

I'd go for 1440p, no doubt. Your 7950 will have no trouble with BF3 on ultra, just drop the AA down to 2x and you'll be between 45-60 fps. 1440p at 60 fps is much easier to attain than 1080p at 120 fps.

One thing I would mention about 120hz with IPS monitor. It does not truly exist so make sure you read this - LINK

Even at 60 hz you will be blown away. I have a cheap Korean monitor sold at our local micro center and I can take it to 75hz without any issues.

Will it blow you away yes it will, I just want you to make sure that you read that little article and understand 120Hz and IPS screens.

Go for what will make you happy.
