I hope this allows them to have more populous cities and towns. I dislike in RPG games when you go to something like the capital city and there are only like 10-15 people in any given area. I want to see some hustle and bustle.

This system is looking pretty awesome. I was planning on skipping this gen after my 360 and both PS3s crapped out on me but now I think I'll buy one after a maybe a few months after the first hardware revision. Sony is really killing it so far in terms of publicity for this console.

I wonder if people will be surprised when Sony announces that it only has 6 or 7 cores available for game developers? My money is on six if they really plan to record gaming sessions @ 1080 on the fly.

I recon the reason AMD decided to fuse a slow cpu with the apu is that they had already fixed their prospects on the common address space upgrade. Without gddr5, they wouldn't have the gpu performing up to current performance/watt specifications that console contracts rely on and with gddr5, the latency becomes an issue. Current cpu's already suffer from latency shifts of 400 cpu clock cycles until ddr3 memory responds to requests and to incorporate even laggier memory with the modalities of todays manufacturing, they would either have to design super beyond intel tech memory cache to help the cpu perform in >400 cycle lag circumstances, or give it up completely and let the gpu take the spotlight in its usual ways.

At the time of the PS3 release (256MiB system memory, 256MioiB graphics memory), most decent gaming PCs had 1-2GiB of memory and a 256MiB to 512MiB graphics card. Now it's 8GiB and 2GiB.

AI is CPU based on consoles, which i believes goes the same for their PC counter parts, so i personally think you'll see more on screen. More RAM too, so more space for AI instructions, which would technically mean more AI in that respect too.

The biggest advantage of the added ram is that the system will not have to switch out resources between the disk drive/media and the RAM as often, which means developers will be able to create far more lush and believable environments. Add to that the fact that a CPU can handle 8 threads pretty easily, and that's a recipe for thread-optimized games with lots of incredibly advanced features.

Still not sure if I ever wanna purchase another Sony products, after all the crap, lies and bs they pulled on consumers the past several years. Still haven't forgave them for the TV panel price gauging and the DRM infested music cds and lying/covering up about it
