It is possible to unlock multiplier by yourself?

I know this might be a stupid question, I know that you can unlock multiplier on an old AMD cpu by shorting solder pads/removing resistors. It is still possible today with a non-k Core i7?

Highly unlikely. It's probably one of many things internally fused that can't be modified.

Interesting question, I remember pencil modding my AMD Duron back in the day. Doubt it'd be possible on modern CPU's, though. I'm sure someone would have done it by now if it was.

i tried searching for this back when my wife had a 2600 non k and found nothing so as said above on modern CPU's it cant be done. well i never found a way.

Does the required circuitry for higher multiplier disabled by laser cut rather then some resistors?

If you could solder resistors at the 22 nanometer level, then sure; it's possible for a 3770. Is it ever really going to be possible? No - the circuitry is too compact and advanced, compared to the old Durons, etc., for you, or anyone, for that matter, to unlock.

That means it's a laser cut, unlocking multiplier on a cpu is just like trying to unlock smx/shaders on a 670/7950.

Can I still push my i7 to 4 GHz without raising the multiplier?
