Are there any High End Graphics Cards with 2 Dual Link DVI Ports anymore?

Just wondering was looking to upgrade to something faster then my Radeon HD 6870 I own and I hate the fact that I have to use a Monoprice Display to Dual Link DVI convertor because it over heats all the time sadly and will just display snow.. Anyways I would rather just get a graphics card that natively supported both my 27inch Catleaps instead of buying another convertor.

Thanks thumb.gif

Also I looked around but I never get a clear answer on newegg if they have 2 Dual Link ports or not.

Wow good question... It's crazy that you are experiencing that issue with the adapter... I know this sounds silly but if the adapter is cased in metal maybe you could use adhesive heat paste to put a heat sink on it.

I think the NVidia GTX 580 has (2) Dual Link DVIs on it... I know that is an older card but it would def out perform a 6870 and you could always buy 2 of them.

I have actually been thinking about doing that for a while haha not to silly may do it, don't want to damage it though because I can still return it to monoprice, but only for store credit..

I already RMAed it once and the new one I got also overheats sadly it seems to be an issue all the convertors even a lot of other brands have.. I think it's a problem because 2560x1440 has so much bandwidth it overheats these things..

I may try the heatsink though biggrin.gif at this point it looks like I may just get a GTX 580 or what ever has 2 Dual Link DVI ports because my 6870 has screen tearing in Eyefinity (which is a whole different issues)

The only thing that sucks about the 580 is that it is on the old process size so it eats a lot more energy than current generation GPUs so make sure your current PSU is up for the task. If it is then I really think you would be happy with that.

I am not saying that this is the case or not but I highly doubt that $100-150 active displayport adapters are going to overheat. Some of them even have external or usb power supplies.

I cant say that for certain though and I may be very wrong.

With what you are saying I am very glad that on the recent triple monitor simulator I designed for someone else that I spec'd display port capable monitors instead of going for the DVI only.

Good luck.
