Upgrading Rig

Hey guys i just need some help with upgrading a new rig. I just want some of your thoughts and opinions for the parts i want to upgrade on.

What i plan on keeping from old rig is:

CPU- i want to go from a i5-2500k to a i7-3770k do you guys think its worth the jump?

I think the 2500k is still a nice processor especially overclocked. The 3770k is nice and all, but it also depends on what you want to do. As you can see on many many posts here and throughout the web there really isn't a huge difference in going with the cheaper 3570k for gaming vs a 3770k (as a lot of games don't utilize hyperthreading).

That being said if you live near a Microcenter you can get awesome deals on the 3770k (usually around $100 cheaper than ordering it). I just picked one up from there and upgraded from a 2500k, apart from tinkering with Ivy Bridge temps I really like it.

Yeah i do live near a micro center so i would be getting the i7-3770k i soon i saw that price i just have to get it smile.gif

Nice looks like you're set then, I'm jealous the nearest one is like 3 hours from me. Looks like you're upgrading to a z77 board too, I'm no expert in that section (or any other for that matter lol) but I really like Asus boards myself.

o damn really mines like 30 minutes away fro me i love it if i dont have a product working then i can just go back the same day.
