9.2" Intec LCD for XBox 360 *56K Beware*

Thread Starter
Next week we'll be doing something at work which requires me to sit at a table for 12 hours a day. Not wanting to be without my XBox I was looking for some solutions for me to be able to bring my 360 with me and play it when I'm not at home. I was looking at LCD HDTVs (little 19" ones) but I didn't want to bring the box around with me to make sure it was safe. I almost gave up when I came across the product mentioned in the thread title. I was a little hesitant to buy it because I wasn't sure if it would produce an HD picture. After a little bit of debating I went ahead and bought it. The packaging includes: the LCD with attached mounting bracket, power cable, video adapter, clamp for core systems with no HDD, and an instruction manual.

The setup is pretty straightforward, but the fit is a little awkward to me. The display has inputs for composite video, s-video, and component video cables. There is also a port for feeding audio to an external device. There is even a position for you to relocate your XBox 360 wireless network adapter.

The mount has two prongs that I'm assuming attach to where the wireless adapter would go, but it doesn't reach and it will not sit flush. The clamps are twist on but again it doesn't seem like it fits correctly.

The mount also has two legs on the rear to support the opening and closing of the screen. Without the legs, it feels like you could snap the mounting clamps free from there position.

The speakers are decent. While they are not Sennheiser or Bose quality they are still good for their size.

They are plenty loud for environments where it is hard to hear. There are also 2 headphones jacks on the face of the display if you need to play in a quiet environment. The speakers do not sound tinny as is usually the case with LCDs but they do not have the depth of a regular TV speaker set.

Once the monitor was mounted on the console, I had to configure the displays HD settings to properly out the picture. While the display is LCD it only displays 480i and 480p (enhanced definition) and cannot display 720p or 1080i. While the picture is not displayed in an HD format, the picture is still very good. Sometimes it looks like the colors are over saturated and makes certain colors look like they are over exaggerated. I'm not sure what the correct word is there but thats what it looks like to me. The words are very well defined and it isn't very hard to tell the letters apart from each other. At times the picture can look a little fuzzy but the problem will remedy itself after a short while.

I paid $200+tax for the screen, and am so far pleased with it. The screen is definitely above average and the speakers are pretty good. The fit issues could be a problem but I don't see myself shaking this thing to where the screen could fly off. The feel of the opening and closing of the screen worries me a little but with the legs down it feels much sturdier and shouldn't be a concern.

If you are on the go and want to have your console with you this may be worth a look. I gave it a shot and was pleasantly surprised.

Final Score: 1/2 out of

My apologies for the pictures, I used my camera phone since my regular camera is at my desk at my office.

Nice review.

I am using a 6" Intec LCD for PS2 for the competition. So far I am pleased with THAT. Hehe.
