The size of a pea?? Thats too much, half the size of a BB is more like it.

I've heard the same about TT's watercooling products. A decent air setup will cool better, the Tuniq Tower for example in a well cooled case will pwn TT's WC kits

The size of a pea is too much, maybe the size of a pellet of rice on the new quadcore.

But it doesn't matter. AS5 is now supposed to be applied in a straight line down the middle of the IHS on dual cores. Just check the official site. So I would do the same thing with your quad core.

I thought they were ok? Do I need to change everything, or cant I just get a better heatsink? Well, I am going to live with what I have for now, so would you if you knew how much this thing has cost me!

PS - When I applied the paste, I put a dab on a plastic bag wrapped over my finger, and massaged it into the processor untill it created an even, grey coating, very thin layer, then I did the same on the heat sink and put them together. Very little paste.

Like stated before, fix the AS5 and test your temps again, if its still crap after that then start looking into other cooling options.

Re-coating with thermal grease is a good idea if you think you put too little on.

The size of a grain of rice sounds right. When I reapplied I got a drop of 15C.
Good luck.

AS instructions for applying AS5 onto C2D's has changed, you are now supposed to apply a line going across both cores, look on the AS website for full instructions

My Quad core is at 3.2Ghz and it loads at 65C (Core Temp Beta) 55C (speedfan)

it seems your temps are fine. This is just a hot processor.

My Lapped BT VX cools it better than my 400$ watercooling. (Sadly)

Anyway, I believe anything under 70C is fine. Even a quad core game wont heat you up that much. And i've seen people having them load at 70C-100C and keeping them like that.

Quad Core is really hot. So I wouldn't worry to much.

Thanks, I did go and get thermal paste remover and AS5. Removed the cheap paste that came with the heatsink and applied AS5 as per the official instructions on their site, on first boot it is @ 46c while online (46c TAT/37c Speedfan). Which is the same as before, gonna reboot and let it cool, a few times as per the instructions but thanks for the info, think I will not worry about it as it is only hitting 67c under full load.
