Need a new motherboard - can someone help me choose one plz?

Hello there smile.gif

I currently have a build that consists of a Core2Quad and 2mb of RAM. Thing is, I'm starting to work on 3D sculpting (which means I have to deal with very very high polygon counts) and as you might guess, 2mb is far from enough.
Rather than adding RAM, I'd like to change some of my hardware for something more recent.

I only want to change the motherboard, RAM, and CPU. I also have a 650W PSU and a GTX260 that I would like to keep (and I'm hoping modern hardware will still support that GPU)

So I started looking into motherboards and got lost cause there are so many of them and comparison sites are not very helpful....

Here's the thing:
- I'm planning to get Intel i5 as CPU. I don't know which yet, it will depend on the price of the motherboard cause I'm low on money :/ So I assume the socket will be 1155
- I don't care about USB3 and PCI3 (would my GTX260 work with it?)
- I don't care about SATA 6gb/s
- I don't care about SLI, I'll never have more than one GPU
- I don't care for things like integrated gpu or integrated wifi or fancy accessories
- I'd like however to have integrated network and 8-chans audio
- I'll be using 4 to 6 mb of RAM depending on how much money I have afterwards (I'll decide on freq and cas later aswell)

What I'm looking for is a motherboard that would offer sufficiently good performances for working with 3D. I'm not looking specifically for a "gaming" board (which would be too expansive), but I don't want it to cause bottlenecks.

Does anyone know a board that matches what I'm looking for? I'd be most thankful !

Thanks!

Edit:
current setup:
- Case: CM690 (original)
- PSU: Corsair TX650W
- GPU: GTX260
