Same. Anything that is flat, or even semi-flat, can be used as a table when necessary.

Your best bet is going to be to just lose the top fan. My case doesn't have top fans but I have a covering over it similar to a table cloth so if anything spills on top it doesn't leak down into the case side openings or psu as well.

grab a paper plate (or fancy real plate), turn it upside down so it has a little rim pointing up. Put a little hot glue or tape on the opposite side and stick it to your case. The water/beer/liquor/college love juices will hit the flat side and get stick in the rim.

Below is a wonderful shot of a solo plate above my computer with a beer hovering above. Not that anyone in college would consume beer because it is generally frowned upon. But I hope you get the general idea.

Not waterproof, but you could maybe use something like this depending on where your fans are positioned on your case compared to what part you use as a table.

This is a Silverstone PP02 and it's for PSU's. But you could use something like that, or make your own baffle.

If you want a really ghetto solution, take a small cardboard box or even an egg carton, cut off the flaps and cut holes into two sides for air. Then secure it on top.

Or maybe even mod a dryer exhaust cover to work:

For something like that, just saw off the circular part for the piping and secure it with double sided tape.

I like the idea of making some sort of cowling/exhaust cover. might burrow the engineering workshop at some point to knock something up outa aluminum.

Also. the plate thing. Pure genius. Would work on my computer with some minor adjustments to the design.

Also the reason its such a problem is because this is my case: http://en.zpasgroup.pl/szafki-sd-19.html
I.e. literally a table (it is more than slightly modded though tongue.gif)
And that fan is solely responsible for cooling both my hardrives in a rather ingenious configuration
