I'd run the RAM faster ... like on a 4:5 divider. Intels like bandwidth more than timings, and the faster RAM does matter!

Also, why only 2.6GHz.. Poor CPU.... not to mention money wasted on a nice Scythe cooler

And why not this kit:
2GB (2x1GB) CorsairTwinX XMS2, DDR2 PC2-6400 (800), 240 Pins, Non-ECC Unbuffered, CAS 4-4-4-12, EPP £187.64 Inc VAT (don't tell me it's the price difference... LOL)

Oh sorry... oos indeed. My bad

and yes, do run the ram faster if you don't overclock that CPU that much (2.6GHz is nothing on that CPU). When you run 4:5 at an FSB of 343MHz, your effective RAM speed will be DDR2 858 or so. That RAM should be able to handle it.

I am saying that you can overclock that CPU much more than 2.6GHz

The performance increase from stock to 2.6GHz will be obvious (sorry if I was unclear).

I'd shoot for 3.0GHz at least... possibly 3.2GHz or more. In those cases, obviously set the RAM at 1:1.

humm this pc's gotta last me a good 3 years so 2.6 was my aim so it last's but like i say if my temps are still low on load (like low 40's) then i may still go higher
i dont want to go over 50 ( i know 55 is max) but at 55 ur cutting ur chip life by a lot lol

For core 2 duo, temps can be higher. 60C is the Intel spec, and that's thus the max you can push it to without really doing damage. If you're really careful, you might consider 55C.

The hard core guys among us think that over 60C is just fine, since the throttle point of these CPUs is in the low 80s.
