Stressing out, need some recomendations for a new SSD

Howdy. I've been having some issues with my hard drives lately. If I purchase 2 or more SSDs for my pc running windows 7, will I have a problem with steam games? I had a 64gb SSD a while back and an internal 1tb hdd, there was a ton of information sharing between the two drives and I just couldnt stop it. My Steam game library was set to run on the 1tb drive and the OS on the SSD, but most everything I put onto the 1tb drive shared a small % of that space with the SSD. How do I stop that from happening? I am not sure how to set this up, any help or advice is appreciated. I've never experienced Sata before, so ya any help on the best and fastest setup is really appreciated. I have a budget of around $275 total and am more than happy to buy refurb ssds from newegg.

I need a fast boot and fast shut down, the fastest and overall best value SSD for just the OS to be applied to is ideal, and I would purchase another spare SSD to use with my steam games, music and a few other programs. Is this possible or at all wise? I was considering this as the primary http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147192

and this as the spare

The samsung looks good,in fact I have the exact same thing coming next week. As for the ocz,I wouldn't recommend it becuase of the sandfoce interface problems.

Maybe you can do with 2 samsung 128 gb for now,and save up for another ssd.

I can't buy until I confirm that all space set to one hard drive will stay on that hard drive, and not share onto the others. As I said, I had a 64gb SSD and a 1tb standard internal hardrive a while back. Steam games were sharing part of the games hard drive space between the SSD and the HDD. I need to know if that is a problem with the newer SSDs. If I have two SSDs, will they be sharing space between them?

I have a big steam library. 64gb SSD filled up in less than a day after I got it, but that was right when they first came out. I installed my OS on to that SSD and then installed steam on the secondary HDD...but Steam was sharing space between both hard drives. I have to make sure that this doesn't happen with any type of media. I want whatever I put onto one of the hard drives to stay there. Is that still a problem with hard drives now?

I am not even sure how your space is being "shared"

There is no difference in SSD's that "first came out" and SSD's now. Besides the fact that they are faster and more "reliable"
Small wonder.

It wasn't always like that, apparently. Back when the SSDs first came out, steam could not designate files to only one location. If you had two hard drives of any type, Steam games shared space between them. 90/10 relationship. 10% of the game space was sent to the Solid State drive with the OS on it. There were a lot of people back then who had the problem and again, I have no idea if Steam still does this or not. I am unable to confirm.

Uhhh I don't think steam ever did that lol You could always designate where to install the games as it would default it to the install path of the program.

So install steam on the "Data" drive. Steam would never touch your SSD ever.

Or you can go into settings>download+cloud>steam library folders and you can designate where to install games and what not.
Small wonder.

I'd recommend reading Sean's ssd guide. From what I remember, it goes over the exact problem you're having. It has something to do with user accounts I believe and occurs with HDDs and SSDs.
