Looking to upgrade to a laser mouse

Thread Starter
I've been using my G400 for quite some time now (and before that, an MX518) and have been thinking about upgrading to a laser mouse for more precision, as I do a lot of FPS gaming. I'm not really sure which mouse I should go with though. From what I've read, it seems like laser mice are hit or miss in terms of the quality of the laser and comfort of the chassis.

My G400 fits my hand perfectly and isn't affected by me picking it up (as I so often do during gaming). When I'm doing stuff on my desktop I use a claw grip, when I game I use a palm grip. The mouse feels fine both ways. What do you guys recommend? smile.gif

Hmm from what i've been reading around the forum... i say stay with the G400... nice sensor, good tracking, and it's "optical"...
Laser mice for fps is no go.. most of the high end mice on the market (Avago 9800\9500?) have acceleration problems.. some can notice some don't... but my opinion (personal ofc) is stay with your G400...
But wait until more experienced users give their knowledge and opinions wink.gif

Uh, let me get this straight... You are using a mouse that you overall just LIKE, but you'd still want to switch to a new one. Why? Is there something wrong with the tracking right now that you'd expect to get better with a switch?

Laser mice aren't "hit and miss" compared to optical, they're mostly just miss. I don't get why you'd want a laser if you have no problems with your current mouse.

Keep your G400 as your gaming mouse; get any other mouse for your desktop.

Your mice's connection ends might wear more quickly than if you didn't switch ports.

I don't know too much about mice, so that's why I asked smile.gif. I asked this question in particular because I had a G500, but hated it because of where the sensor was positioned. From what I remember, movement felt a lot smoother with that mouse, than with the MX518 or G400. I love my G400--don't get me wrong, but I was just curious as to whether or not there was anything better.

Switching from optical to laser is like converting from Islam to Paganism. You're as good as dead man around here.

So, stay safe, stay optical.

Non-laser illumination seems optimal for most surfaces, so those applicable could be soft mousepads that would relieve weight during usage.

I hope that's a movie quote because that's a pretty weird analogy...

No idea what all this hate about laser vs optical.

I came from a WMO > MX500 > MX 518 > G5> G9 > G700 And I loved every transition.

I play CS 1.6 Not really competitively before but when i had my G5 I was heavily involved in CAL - I and even CEVO P. Never had a problem with my mouse giving me Accel or some sorts.

I guess I am just one of those people that never noticed it.

I usually play at 3200 DPI/1khz Polling with a sensitivity of 1.2 in game.

my G700 Is super fantastic Love the top toggle between hyper scrolling and regular.

Never had a problem with wireless either. I don't know just lucky i suppose. Maybe ill get a G400s just to see what the difference in feel is.
Small wonder.
