Machine_Check_Exception issue...

Thread Starter
Alrighty, now I've been getting this error for a while, but I never could do anything about it. Now it's happening while I play a certain game and... it's starting to worry me a bit more...

· OS - Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
· What was original installed OS on system? Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
· Is the OS an OEM version (came pre-installed on system) or full retail version (YOU purchased it from retailer)? Full retail version
· Age of system (hardware)?
· Age of OS installation - have you re-installed the OS? The installation is around 6 months old. I was about to reinstall to keep things fresh. Also, yes I have re-installed the OS from when I first got it.

· i7-920XM - 55w TDP
· 2GB Radeon 6970M 100w TDP (Current;y undervolted to 1v from 1.1v, and underclocked to 650/900 due to heat issues.)
· Flextronics 240w Power Brick

· Dell
· Alienware M17x R2

Now as a quick note to everyone, the 6970M isn't fully supported by this motherboard and, due to this, I have to use HWiNFO64 to control the fans. It's unfortunate, but better that than deal with crappy crossfire issues.

I'm currently running the CCC 12.9 driver set, since there aren't any improvements to the Radeon 6000 series GPUs after that point, I figure there's no point to updating. Also, these are fully stable in every game I play. No need to fix what's not broken eh

Any help would be greatly appreciated as it's kinda odd how the game afflicted is rather... "old". I say that because DooM is old... but the mod Brutal DooM isn't... and it crashes when I try to play that for more than an hour or so.* redface.gif

* - 'Crash' refers to the entire PC going the way of the BSOD.

Can you post the stop code?

I'm just guessing here but if you changed the affinity on the executable to use only 2 core or 4 cores.

I'm instead of the 8 that are being displayed. Change them based on how many cores you need to use for the game.

But don't use extra cores than you have. You probably see 8 as I think your chip is 2 thread per cor?
So your max should be 4.

But if you can get away with using 2 try that.

Let me know how that works or if it works at all.
