Is HD6850 Toxic good enough for me?

Hello!

I finally decided to get myself some video card, and my budget(100$) dictated me to get a Sapphire HD6850 Toxic, review here.

I don't even know if I got a medium, high or hybrid gaming PC anymore, since market is changing so fast.
I play: GW2(plays perfect even on intel hd4000), TERA online(cursive on low settings on integrated), Heroes3, LoL, CivIV, Borderlands2, DoTA2, Perspective and a bunch of other games that don't require much gpu power.

My playing resolution is currently 1366x768 and will sometimes change to 1920x1080, on another monitor. I don't use much AA since I find it crucial only in shooters and don't play much that genre.

My question is, since I'm getting confused now... is it enough for my PC? Do I need to start searching for another one for crossfire or upgrade budget and get more flops?

I have the HD 6850,but the Sapphire edition. It's a good card.I'm running 1680x1050 Battlefield 3 on high for 60fps stable, crysis 3- medium. On your low resolution of 1366x768,pretty much everything maxed out. It's a great card, but i'm looking to upgrade to something better just because i want to play everything on ultra and get ready for BF4.

Sounds like you've answered your own question. thumb.gif

It will be a decent card for what you're playing, even at 1080p. I don't think it's going to be future proof though, not sure if it's even worth crossfiring in the future. thinking.gif

I have limited myself from playing other games because of the lack of independent GPU, naturally; so yes, for now they are all playable. But TERA really looks ugly without the eye-candy, and from my point of view, there aren't many more reasons to play that game. I would like to explore new games too, and I am waiting to play some which aren't really playable on integrated, as powerful as it may be. I don't create threads to get my self esteem high.

Thanks hotwheels! Your configuration is exactly as mine, in what counts; I love seeing that your 6850 blends in so well in there. I can't wait to get it installed then!

Yes nado, my bet for crosfire would only be if the 8000's and 9000's come out and another 6850 will cost me 50$. That, ofc if it's enough until then to own just one. Thanks!

Funny how the most positive post needs only a simple Thank You! and the most negative an entire wall of explanation:) Not intending to be offensive in any way.

i dont think he meant to be negative

now im assuming you are getting it used?
why not hd7770 you will lose just a bit of performance but with less heat and power consumption
considering you dont play GPU heavy games, and you can get it used for 100 maybe less

I ran 1 Power Color Radeon HD 6850 for about a year and a half. I ran at 1920x1080 with no issues with game lag ever. A few months ago I picked up a second 6850 but instead it was a saphire card. I ran them in xfire. I had no issues with playing every game on the market other then ones like GTA which were restrictive to what you could play with certain VRAM amounts. And even those I'd max out my VRAM abilities in those games and I had no issues. I ran into lag issues finally a few weeks ago with crysis 3 but I bumped it down to medium and had no issues. The only other game I've found to be a bit laggy at 1920x1080 with maxed out graphics was BF3. But honestly it was a great card but I wanted to bump up. I now run a Radeon HD 7950 and will have it for a good while. biggrin.gif
