Do you guys leave your water-cooled rigs running 24/7?

Thread Starter
So I am about to make the switch over to water-cooling my OC’ed 3570K. I have a few question/concerns that have arised as my parts are arriving.
First – do you guys leave your water-cooled rigs running 24/7? Makes me nervous to have it run when I am not at the house. What if it leaks? Electrical fire?
Or do you guys shut down your rigs when you leave for the day?
I've left mine running for weeks at a time, never leaked. You just have to do ample leak testing and make sure that everything is tight. Maybe check it a couple of times before you officially leave it running.

You can run them 24/7 if you have a proper loop. If you are worried about leaking, then don't build a shoddy loop; make sure everything is tightened and solid. I am not personally running water, but as most people here on OCN would with their WC rigs, I leave my computer running 24/7 Folding, at medium or low when I'm gaming or doing other things, but full otherwise. WCing isn't going to cause electrical fire if you have non-frayed wires, and shielded wires (coated, not bare copper). It should be fine to run a WC rig 24/7.

What the difference if you are there? IF it leaks it going to do no matter if you are there or not. Mine PC is 24/7 on and is watercooled. The reason is watercooled is so it can be 24/7 on.

I leave mine running 24/7 on BOINC, no problems.

My biggest concern is pump failure, but I have a monitoring system that is set to shut down if the pump RPM drops below a certain level or the temperature goes too high.

Even if there were a leak I would think it unlikely, but not impossible, that you would get an electrical fire; most of the time something will trip first.

True pump falure is main concern but something like D5 or 355 is probably last longer then same thing like H100 pump.

If a h100 pump fails and destroys something, it will be replaced by corsair. I doubt you could say the same with a d5 or 355.

No longer completely true - Corsair have put a value limit into their warranty. This means that they will pay to replace items up to a certain value, after which you are on your own.

Still better than a D5 / DDC failing, however that is why I have a monitoring device. Generally speaking though, if your pump fails your CPU will hit thermal throttling then eventually shut everything down, hopefully before anything gets damaged.

Yeah. I forgot to turn pump once and CPU hot higher temps faster then GPU if you are just using the PC since GPUs only used in games. i got BSOD and PC turned off. Todays CPU are very advanced.
