Very interesting indeed. Batteries, especially charging, is the only thing holding back electric cars. If this leads to similar car batteries, we will see the end of gas powered vehicles.

And if everyone started driving electric cars how much would that raise electricity prices by? That would also affect those that don't even drive, since everyone requires electricity.

Likewise, with less demand for gasoline price would decline. So I'd rather predict that the cost of driving electric-powered vehicles would gradually rise and gas-powered vehicles to decline. Over many years, they could reach an equilibrium- a balance between electric vehicles and gasoline powered vehicles. Albeit, if electricity really is more efficient we could see 75% of vehicles run by electricity and 25% run by gas, beneficially lowering all transportation costs for the broader market.

make that, running your microwave for a whole day, on max. if you had a battery with 100% efficient charging capabilities (no where near 100% in real life), and the capacity of the batteries were 24kWh, u can expect a full charge in 20 hours at 120v AC 10A (1.2kW) and 24kWh doesn't give u much range wink.gif an average microwave uses 1kW of energy

Considering the smallest battery in a Tesla Model S is 60kWh and goes an estimated 230 miles, that is a ton of power for just 230 miles. This is the same as leaving a 60" LCD LED TV that draws about 150W on for 400 hours straight just to get a full charge to go 230 miles.

except cars idle most of the time, thats a huge waste of gas
unlike battery powered cars..you stop the car..well it stops draining the battery.. and theres honestly no way a tiny engine would be more efficient comparing to a big generator, the heatloss/kw is significantly greater in cars than a power plant..as is the carbon dioxide emissions since you cant capture what comes out of a car and bury it while moving

Average small hour uses about 500KWH a month. Adding this to car would double the consumption. This would be big problem for those congested areas.
