Good C2D board...WHERE ARE THOU?!?!?!

If you couldn't tell from the post, I'm seriously entertaining the idea of buying a C2D system, as mine is becoming too slow. The problem I always have is trying to buy a trusty and stable board. I've been looking at boards on newegg, looking through reviews, but I know thats not all too trustworthy because some people don't know what they're talking about over there.I definitely want to overclock it, and I only want to buy the rock solid intel if I have to, since I know they dont OC. So here's my question: what chipset and what brand? I know there are at least 3 different models from each brand per chipset, and quite frankly its giving me a headache. Are there any particular models that stick out for around 100-200?

P.S. I already read about the 680i, and it doesn't really strike me as worth the cash, so don't post about it please.

thats the one i plan on getting, they dont ship to states but look for similar board. Price went up 16 bucks

South of the border, on a budget your best bet is gigabyte

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128018

And higher range is Abit

Now does the 975X chipset support both SLi and crossfire? That would make it worthwhile indeed.

I guess the P5B Deluxe or the Gigabyte DS4 would be your best bet. Both can do crossfire but the second PCI-e slot will be x4 I think.

I've been eyeing that Abit board since you've linked me to it. Are the Abit boards picky with memory though? I'm thinking on this Corsair 667 1 GB to pair the with E6300.

P5B deluxe for single card / crossfire, DS3 for single card, 680i for SLI. thats it. Those are the best boards for C2D.

Asus P5B Deluxe. It's proven to be one of the best. SLI boards are pointless unless you plan on going SLI. Even then, you can do so much with a single graphics card.
