Can I run these two modules in the same channel?

Thread Starter
I know there're stickies out there that explains this, but I purchased that big a$$ Noctua cooler (I forget the model) that covers up the first 2 memory modules on most motherboards. Below I have listed the two memory sticks I own and I am wondering if I can run one set in the 2 slots close to the CPU(sniper) and run the other 2 (vengeance) on the outside? Would they still run in "pure dual mode" as they were designed or is there something I am missing that makes these modules not compatible in the same channel?

G.Skill Sniper
Corsair Vengeance

If not, I'm just going to sell the vengeance...

Thanks,
Dan

As long as they run the same timings and volts they should be just fine.

They will still run dual.

There is no essential difference in memory unless you are running different timings and volts.
Small wonder.

Thanks so much! I wasn't sure if there was more to this.

Dan.

I have the same memory (sniper that is) with a different speed anyways... and same cooler. The cooler only covers one of my slots on the Sabertooth Z77. What board do you have? In my board this combination would work fine as far as fitment goes.

I have the GA-Z77X-UD3H board. I ordered all the parts but haven't gotten around to building it yet with school and work.
