yes specially if you want to consider future games neither 2GB is enough for more than 1080P so OP should consider the possibility of upgrade or upgrades on monitors

Sir Shilka since you have upgraded your 2GB to 4 GB have you tested crysis 3 at MAX? if yes how much of your Vram was filled?
at OP my friend you should also consider how many more monitors you might wanna add in the future? 3 or more? if its certain that you are going to upgrade the number of your monitors and your resolution then you should think about 2GB version of GTX 680 at all or it wont be any kind of future proof even in SLI

in my opinion for 3 monitors at 5760x1080 4GB is enough for this generation but about future no one can be sure about anything
so if your upgrade on monitors is certain dont think about 2 or 3GB as future proof but if its gonna be 1080P then even 2GB is enough

please ppl who have more or better info or experience correct me if im wrong

Well I never expected this thread to spark this much debate between the two video cards, but I am extremely appreciative of all the support you all have given me. I believe I am going to go with a 7970 GHz 3GB, however, I do look forward to seeing how the HD 7990 stacks up against the 690 next week. Thank you all again for the feedback.

The HD 7990 will clearly win over the GTX 690, I'm 99.9% sure of this.

I came across a cool little article, just passing it along for some reading.
cheers.

CrossFire Versus SLI Scaling: Does AMD's FX Actually Favor GeForce?
Quote:
Does AMD’s flagship CPU really allow GeForce cards to run closer to their potential than Radeons? That conclusion is still a little difficult to reach, since the Radeon HD 7970 is faster than the GeForce GTX 680 in today's benchmark suite. We can still get there by comparing the results of a less-bottlenecked processor, however, and we can get even more information by comparing CrossFire to SLI. After spending way too much time poring over the data, the best illustration of CPU-to-GPU scaling occurred as I wrote this article’s introduction.

image036.png

The above chart shows that, without significant CPU bottlenecks, two GeForce GTX 680s in SLI and a pair of Radeon HD 7970s in CrossFire offer similar performance. It also illustrates that this performance similarly comes not from having identically-performing cards, but from a slight scaling advantage favoring the slower GeForce GTX 680s when you put two of them together.

Our big revelation is that AMD’s FX-8350 performs 5% better in SLI than it does in CrossFire. When all else is made equal, AMD’s current flagship host processor really does favor Nvidia's graphics technology. Whoops.

Alright thanks to the awesome work Ramzinho has done with the graphs i can now show you GTX 680 1440P FPS numbers single Vs SLI FPS numbers

Due note that the single card numbers are done with a overclocked card and the SLI numbers are NOT as the cards would get way too hot with overclocks in SLI so was force to use stock clocks speeds in SLI

I might be able to fix this problem after i have replaced my case fans
