OCZ El Platinum Rev. 2 PC6400

Thread Starter
Today I saw my favorite hardware website added a new set of ram, namely the OCZ El Platinum Rev. 2 PC6400. They only cost €269 where as the set of Team Xtreem I was looking for is gonna cost me €325. So what I was wondering is if this set of OCZ uses D9 like the Team Xtreem set does.

OCZ has been lagging lately with decent dram. Either Micron (read Crucial) is limiting their D9's availability or they are becoming much more scarce. At any rate, either way, the pricing of D9's will be high, not low so I suspect you will NOT find Micron under those heatsinks. Elpida, or some such I would hazard a guess at.

OCZ's line of RAM with high quality of ICs for DDR2 consist of the models with EL (Enhanced Latencies) version. Other than that? I don't think so but they have also added some RAM that are SLI and CrossFire optimized which it could possibly be that those two may/could have D9s.

None of our PC2-6400 ram uses Micron.

OCZ2P8002GK (Plat 6400 "Rev 1") = High Binned Elpida, early on - now Promos

OCZ2P800R22GK (Plat 6400 "Rev 2") = Promos early on - now PSC

You should look into these Cellshock if they're cheaper than Team Group...

2Gb CellShock € 275.00

I dont believe the SLI or Crossfire certified IC's from OCZ are Dx's. They do not seem to be breaking past the other EL grouped Ic's. I can get my Plat XTC EL's up to a max of 982mhz @ 2.4v, 4-6-5-16-5....but not MemTest stable past 943mhz.....any latency, any voltage.

I have seen similar results posted w/ the Crossfire certified Ic's from Ocz, none that exceeded speeds or latencies of the Plat XTC EL so far though.

So they have Promos chips... well I can't find any Cellshock, Crucial or G-skill in my country so I guess I will go for the Team Xtreem sticks then. Thanks guys.
