Thread Starter
I want to rant about this. I really, really do. The problems I encountered while setting up a fresh install of Windows 7 64-bit on a pair of Samsung HDDs in RAID 0 were few but fundamental and counterintuitive. I stayed up until the sun was up just trying different types of prayers to the various motherboard gods that my suffering would finally end.

I'll be a bigger man than that, though. There are doubtless other unfortunate souls that are like me - using an AMD motherboard (Asus M5A97 in my case), using a RAID array for their OS install, setting up Windows 7 64-bit onto it (much to the surprise of certain Epic executives) - that will encounter this very same problem. This thread will be dedicated to those lost sheep, which will contain the errors that tripped me up and the steps I used to solve it.

Setup:
Motherboard - Asus M5A97 R1.02 (not sure how this is different from R2.0)
Storage - 2 Samsung HD200J (?) 200GB HDD's
RAID Config - RAID 0, because I wanted speed and all my important data is synced to cloud storage
Operating System - Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

Problem:
Oh boy. In the installer, after choosing "Install Now" and looking at the loading screen, a window pops up saying that drivers are missing and need to be loaded. From here, I tried to load drivers left and right; from the Asus site, from the AMD site... Nothing worked. I came across a lot of suggested solutions, some of which even saying to clone an installation on another disk - messy stuff.

One solution that looked like it might have worked was a suggestion to use the 32-bit RAID driver. By doing that (using the driver from the official Asus site), the installer finally let me through and could see the RAID array. I chose it for installation, and the DVD successfully copied all the files onto the array. And then it tried booting from it to continue the installation. BSOD. Sigh.

Solution:
Right, I said I wasn't gonna rant. Long story short, the trick to getting all the way through installation required the combination of THREE separate solutions;
- first, quickly press F8 after the disk finishes booting up and select the option to boot up without signed driver enforcement;
- second, when prompted, load the "32-bit" Windows 7 RAID driver from Asus, which will allow you to continue with the installation (otherwise, you can't do the third step);
- third, when choosing the drive to install Windows 7 on, choose Load Drivers to load the "x64" drivers this time (otherwise, the Win7 installed on your RAID array will be corrupted and BSO during bootup)

After following these steps and with any luck, you'll have a freshly installed Windows 7 on your awesome RAID array I hope I helped prevent a few potential headaches from like-minded people with similar setups.
