Samsung 840 failing authenticate failing and corrupting OS.

Thread Starter
Hi so today i just picked up a 840 120GB drive not pro (also got a 250GB pro but have not tried it yet) the 120 gb is to replace the 80GB corsair sandforce 2 ssd in my laptop.

I use samsung migration tool latest version to copy to the disk via USB then place the SSD in my laptop this is fine and works fine untill in samsung disk magic or whatever i click authenticate genuine samsung.

Upon doing so i get blue screened and upon restart left with the message A DISK READ ERROR OCCURED PRESS ctl ALT DEL TO RESTART and cant get past this even with the disk selected in BIOS.

I already tried re-imaging the disk and the exact same thing happened when i clicked authenticate. Is it a disk error should i be RMA this?

Do you think if i use other software to clone the disk it might work?

I could set laptop to lock on blue screen so i can get error code but this will me re-imaging yet again.

Anyone else had this problem or heard of it?

Use another cloning/system image software. Like acronis true image, macrium reflect, todo backup, etc.

Why? Because a certain software is not working correctly? Your fear makes absolutely no sense... kookoo.gif

Well ima just going to risk it, i done clone again and im not going to touch the authenticate genuine samsung button and hopefully it stands up.

Im thinking it might be that its cloning a OEM version of windows and that by validating it its noticing the non-genuine hardware and windows is corrupting itself.
