Whats going on here, whats with your system specs? That build would be a downgrade from your system specs...

Go with that build that Chozart recommended...

Also, that mobo link goes to the cpu page...

CPU: E6300 v. AMD: E6300 is the clear winner, no matter which AMD you square against it (at stock the FX62 will win, but otherwise... E6300 all the way). And it's your rig... you can overclock it Price: no difference

video: Good card. Can be used with either set up.

RAM: sure, why not. . it's decent. You can get better, but you'd have to pay extra. This one is better and cheaper(!) G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)

MoBo: which one? Seems like a wrong link (I see the CPU again.) For Core 2 Duo the Gigabyte P965 S3 will be a nice board, and cost the same. Tied here I guess.

Tell him the Intel rig will spank AMD's butt.... the times that AMD was on top are over (for now). The E6300 is the better CPU for the money right now... quite easily.

Very good setup that most people use these days.... low budget*

CPU: Intel C2D 6300E
Mobo: Asus P5B Deluxe <- best OC and stable board!
Ram: DDR2 800 or 633 to save money
PSU: fortron, xclio, seasonic, enermax.. all good cheap company
GPU: With ur budget maybe better to go with 7900gs... it's only $150 at Bestbuy... or a bit more expensive 1950 series...

Eska: we already suggested an E6300 rig for him... that's about the budget. Now, apparently a family member suggested AMD (yeah, seems like we need to educate him)

The Asus P5B Deluxe is a nice board, but out of budget....

Any reason why not??? I didn't hear any arguments from them about why it isn't the best.

Some benchies where the E6300 whoops and X2 3800+
http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu...-e6300_10.html

And not overclocking..they should be ashamed of themselves! Come on... the rist of failure is not any greater than running stock (ok, maybe a little, but negligible if you take good care).

Another review.... E6300 beating an X2 4200+ quite obviously... in some cases even an X2 4600+
http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets...spx?i=2795&p=8

If you're up to it... here is a few more reviews

True. So true.

I mean... the E6300 (1.86GHz stock) can hit an easy 3.0Ghz (3.5GHz if you take some effort). Something like 2.4-2.5GHz probably does not need any voltage adjusments or something like that... just increase of FSB

But heck... if they keep arguing, and you can afford it... take a look at the E6400... 2.13GHz at stock.. and not much more expensive. That's beat anything AMD can do, except an FX60/62 or so... which is quite a bit more money!

Gosh.. it keeps getting worse each time I look at it...

Ok, seems I am out of this thread...

What more can I do to prove that Core 2 Duo (even the E6300) is the better CPU... and the red G.Skills over the silver ones I picked??? come on.....

And a 7950 over an X1950XT... what they trying to do.. give you the worst rig for your money?

(ok, I am a little exaggerating....but I hope you get my point)

Give some, at least one, argument WHY the heck they suggest this?
