I haven't gamed in quite a while and wanted to fire up some GTA IV, and it wasn't installed, so I installed it on a secondary drive to save space on my SSD. The install went fine and the game launches, but it launches at 800x600 resolution, and when I go into the graphics settings it says it bright red at the bottom that I am close to using all my resources and I have to reduce my settings to play then it shows what is utilized, which is 325/3000. LOL I have over 2.5GB of resources free. I can't move the resolution up or touch any settings because of this. Has this happened to any one else and maybe know a fix? I'd love to get a game of GTA IV going. Thanks.

GTA IV has to be one of, if not the worst port ever created.
Try this:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Rockstar Games\\GTAIV\LaunchGTAIV.exe" -norestrictions

My directory:
"D:\Games\GTA IV\LaunchGTAIV.exe' -norestrictions

If its a Steam copy, right click the game, hit properties, and then click on "set launch options". Add the -norestrictoins there (no quotes).

Also, once you do get the memory restriction fixed (the above will do it), don't be surprised if you have to lower settings. A few people have reported flawless gameplay (and even provided proof), but I have no clue how they did it. My 7970 does mostly high and sliders at 25 with vsync on...otherwise it stutters. Only game I have any issues with though, so I'm guessing its the game or whatever driver I'm on isn't optimized for the game (12.4 WHQL here).

-norestrictions allows you to customize the settings, although the game runs pretty poorly on my 7970. Not unplayable but too much stuttering for my like.

Thanks for the reply, but where do you put the -norestrictions ? It's a game I bought from Origin, the old Direct2Drive.
