Fast CPU = Lower Score?

Thread Starter
Hi

I have managed to get my CPU nice @ 3.4ghz, but I was getting 1000 more @ 3.33ghz. I am a noob at this, but is this cos I need to adjust my RAM to keep up? My RAM is currently Unlinked and I have no idea what sort of settings I would use, or even if this is where I should be looking.

Thanks

1000 what?

is it a different CPU or did you overclock?
explain a little more what you are talking about

Just a heads up that an Unstable Overclock can actually result in a lower score in a benchmark.

It is common to have a lower CPU speed result in better performance as you have to find the "sweet spot" for your overclock in which all components perform their best.

if you loosened your ram timings, that would result in a lower score too. or like stated above, if your overclock isnt stable, that would do it too, or too much heat, could be throttling your cpu, actually slowing you down again

Increase your memory speed to be at a 1:1 ratio with your FSB.

I cant do that as it would be running @ over 1100, but it was the bottle neck, increased it from 800 to 900 and beat my previous score with 16759 - HERE
