i7-3635QM Drops speed when under load. Driving me mad!!!

So I noticed it will drop to 1.2GHz while gaming I first thought it was thermal throttling, but temps are not the issue.

I tried running prime95 or IBT and both only use 50% of the CPU and speed drops to 1.2GHz and thn .89GHz

Temps do geet high around 90c max, but the CPU usage and speed drops long before it gets any where near that hot.

This issue is driving me mad. Games and intense applications cometo a crawl almost instantly. Any load at all causes it to drop speed and only utalize half the CPU. Its almost like its a power saving issue, but there is nothing to turn off in bios. I updated and everything. Tried turnng of HT and the onlypower feature I could find, but no avail.

Yes it is a laptop, but it should not be doing this, I have owned many i7 lappys and never had this issue.

Its a samsung series 7 chronos.

Looks to me like this this might be a problem with the laptop itself.

Go down to the throttling section on this review: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Samsung-Series-7-Chronos-770Z7E-Notebook.89376.0.html

Looking around online, it seems like many other people are having the same problem. Has something to do with the power supply to the CPU under load.

doesent seem to explain the only 50% usage of loads like prime and IBT. It says only one core was doing it. However, all my cores are plus prime nd IBT only going to 50% load.

ThrottleStop 5.00
http://forum.notebookreview.com/hardware-components-aftermarket-upgrades/531329-throttlestop-guide.html
http://www.techinferno.com/downloads/

Learn how to use ThrottleStop. It will give you a better idea of what is really going on with your laptop and might allow you to fix this throttling problem too.

Post some screen shots or send me a PM if you need any help understanding this program. Manufacturers use a variety of methods to limit CPU performance in laptops. It's a very dishonest business practice but it keeps going on and on year after year. Most people have no idea that they are not getting the full performance that they paid for.
