Core 2 Meltdown: Need HELP!

Thread Starter
I Think im having a serrious issue. Just compleated my new core 2 system and im having some issues. It's water cooled with a dangerden block. I have conflicting temp readings. The asus bios HW mon says tempratures are around 70C at idle! But I have a temp sensor from my fan controller under the waterblock and right next to the chip that is giving me readings of 32C. What is going on. The Mobo freeked out and shut the machine off. What should i belive. Is there a problem with asus monitors, or is my temp sensor in the wrong place and my cooling sucks?

be carefull with temp sensors, they can leave a gap in the heatsink and all and keep the cpu from having good contact. And you also might want to look at your thermal paste. Make sure you have a very thin layer. Re apply your thermal paste, and take the sensor out. See what the mobo says

LOL

It's not your CPU at all, that fact that it's melting don't mean that it need's to be fix I think it's your PSU that needs replacing

But really, check your Watercooler Block and make sure it's in good contact with the CPU

As other people have alluded to, you better not have the temp sensor between your CPU and waterblock .That is going to fry your CPU!

You want the sensor (from fan controller) CLOSE to the block or socket, but not between the CPU and block. I cant stress this enough!
