need help getting 3700 sandy past 2.7ghz

Thread Starter
Hi everyone,

I just built my new rig and now I need a little help with my overclock. I'm following the A64 overclocking guide at DFI street. So far I've been able to achieve this overclock for my proccessor.

FSB: 245mhz
cpu multi: 11x
Vcore: at least 1.60 (the bios says its about .02v higher than what Smart guardian and MBM5 say.)

The RAM and LDT multis are both low, so this isn't limiting me.

The load cpu temp is at 35C, which seems very low, but i'm still afraid to push the voltage much further past 1.60. Other people seem to have good overclocks with 1.5v or less. I've tried many voltages from 1.4 to 1.65, but the cpu doesn't seem to do anything until it gets up to at least 1.6v. Is it safe to have the voltage this high (maybe even past 1.65) if the temps still stay below 45C?

Someone at DFI street said it was my PSU. I don't know what stepping my processor is because i didn't look when i was installing it. All I know is that cpu-z says that it is E4 revision.

Can anybody help me with this?

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum homie!!!
Lower the multiplier to 10 by 300FSB,HTT multiplier x3
Dram Speed to 133 (2.8v)
Cpu volts 1.45-1.55
Gimme some RAM timings while we're at it...

Thanks for the fast reply!

I have the Ram running at the lowest divider (135mhz) and I loosened the timings to 3 3 3 8. The ram is running at 2.8v right now. HTT multiplier is at 2.5x. I'll try lowering the multiplier, lowering the voltages, and trying that FSB and I'll post my results.

I raised the RAM voltage to 2.9 and set the cpu voltage to 1.5. Windows won't load if I try to boot at 300x10. at 275x10 it loads but gets a BSoD. 265x10 gives me errors in superpi. how should I got about finding the right cpu voltage?

Lower HTT to 2x...how far can you raise the CPU voltages?
Half multipliers are for the "sick" OCERS (like me...LOL)...and it's a pain because the RAM is then limited to a small range at which it will perform.

I haven't tryed going much past 1.65v. The temps are below 45C with voltage that high, but is it safe to have the voltage that high?

No, not unless you watercool it. 45C under stress test is okay, but if that's idle temp, you need to do something quick before it shoots outta your case.

most RAM companies will only warrant their product to 2.85v (if thats of any concern to you).

The core temp is actually 43C max at load, even with 1.65v. Thanks for the help everybody, but I think this is just a chip with bad steppings. No matter what voltages I give it, it won't go over 2.6ghz stable on prime95.
